I got interested in MT work through researching various careers on AOL. I have been a stay-at-home mom for five years, and with my little boy starting Kindergarten this fall, I thought I would try to go back to work (not that housework and raising a son isn't work ... it's the hardest there is!).

MT work is a pretty far cry from my old career of police work. I was in Law Enforcement for 12 years. I was lucky enough to have an outstanding career that covered most areas of LE work. I was an emergency dispatcher. I worked as an undercover officer for Vice and Narcotics (yes, dressed up as a hooker and did my best work gambling in the bars!). I worked plain clothes investigations and uniformed patrol. I had the most fun in uniform ... I loved to write tickets!

I got married six years ago and was pregnant shortly thereafter. I decided staying in the field was not the safest thing to do, and after the ultrasound, I couldn't leave my baby, so....

Since staying at home, I have also co-authored two textbooks (reading portions) for SC and FL high school students trying to pass exit exams.

I pretty much have to inspire myself to study. I prefer anything to housework, and this is interesting.

I have a wonderful husband, Jim; an extraordinarily bright, sweet, and tall (48") 5-year-old boy, Lucas; a 2-year-old female yellow Lab, Cookie (who is so sweet while being the biggest pain the ____; and a kitty named Trixie who meows really loud when the food dish is empty.

My favorite movies are Casablanca, Wizard of Oz, and I can't think of the others right now.

Pet Peeves: A dog who chews on paper and leaves bits on the floor. A son who doesn't pick up his toys from the family room. And why are the dishes and laundry never really done, and is it so hard to turn dirty socks right side out? Oh yeah, stupid drivers (sometimes I wish I was still a cop so I
could give 'em a ticket!).

Favorite Books: Historical fiction, preferably set in Ireland or USA.

Hobbies: Playing on the computer, sewing, and shopping.

My office: Is a small bedroom with three large desks. A roll-top which is like a black hole of paperwork. An executive desk, where my computer is and two telephones and a transcription machine and way too much paper and a small table/desk for the second computer my little one uses.

My DREAM OFFICE: I don't have to share it, unless I want to. It has a nice L-shaped oak desk, has a place for everything, and is set up the way I want it. A nice view would be good. A really comfortable chair would be nice, too.

If I won the Lottery: I would be on the first plane to Ireland. My husband would retire. My son would travel with us and go to school there. I would see all the things I would want to. Depending on the size of the lottery, I guess I'd share the wealth and help out family and a few select charities, too.
